REGULATIONS

1. General Theme: My Pinwheel

Pinwheel is a mechanical device driven by wind power. With the development of modern technology, wind energy is now a safe and clean renewable energy source, making pinwheel beyond a symbol of toys, folklore and culture. This activity aims to show the creativity of students, from design to assembly, as they attempt to build a unique pinwheel, and to learn the relevant scientific principles through the construction process, to develop their rich artistic imagination and to promote the initiative "Dare to experiment. Dare to discover".


2. Qualifications: All full-time primary students in Macao are qualified to participate. However, each participant can only join in one team.

  • Group A - The Parent-child Team: Maximum of 2 students in each team (can be a mix of primary 1 to 3 students) together with a maximum of 2 parents;
  • Group B - The School Team: No limitation to the number of teams each school can participate. Maximum of 3 students in each team (can be a mix of primary 4 to 6 students).

3. Entry Specifications & Requirements:

  • The work must be handmade and self-assembled; pinwheel modify from existing products is not allowed;
  • The work must fulfil the basic function of a pinwheel; any use of environmental friendly materials is encouraged. Additional functions and decoration of work are also accepted;
  • There is no restriction on the shape of the work, but the size should not exceed 23cm×29cm×50cm(h);
  • Each team can only submit ONE entry. Title of the submitted work is proposed by the team;
  • The work submitted for judging must include the "Work Description" with limitation of ONE page of A4 paper, to describe or imagine a daily or future application of the work by text or drawing.

4. Prizes:

  • Three Excellence Prizes: Selected from each group, will be awarded with certificate, trophy and coupons valued at MOP2,000.00;
  • Participation Award for Group B: A trophy will be awarded to the school that has submitted the most number of works meeting the entry requirements;
  • Supervisors of Group B: Maximum of two in each team will be presented with souvenirs. Souvenirs will not repeatedly be given to the same supervisors;
  • Winning works will be exhibited in Communications Museum, and/or other locations under the coordination of the Communications Museum.

5. Registration and Work Submission:

  • Submission of physical work: The well packed work, joined with the Registration Form and Work Description must be submitted to the Reception of Communications Museum before the deadline of submission;
  • Deadline for submission of physical work: 17:30 on 28/12/2023 (Thursday). Late Submission will not be judged after the deadline.

6. Judges: Organizer and co-organizer will invite professionals to be the jury. The result is subjected to the final decision by the jury.


7. Evaluation Criteria:

  • Creativity (30%): Presentation of a work in new, unique and innovative properties and effects;
  • Scientific principles (20%): Accuracy to apply scientific principles;
  • Fabrication skills (20%): Ability to produce a neat and stable work;
  • Work description (15%): Clear description of the daily or future application of the work by text or drawing;
  • Environmental friendly materials (15%): Suitable way to use environmental friendly materials.

8. Declaration:

  • All effective staff of Macao Post & Telecommunications Bureau is not allowed to participate in the Contest.
  • Personal data, collected in the activity and registration form will be used for the arrangement of activity and handled according to the Statement of Personal Data Collection Macao Post & Telecommunications Bureau;
  • The content of the creative work cannot contain any indecent, violent or illegal content and must not violate the laws of Macao SAR;
  • The submitted work must not have been previously published, awarded any prizes or be bound by any copyright restrictions;
  • The Organizer reserves the rights to broadcast submitted entries in the Communications Museum or other media channels for the purpose of promotion without prior permission of the participants or remuneration;
  • All submitted works shall not be returned. The copyright of the winning works will belong to Macao Post & Telecommunications Bureau.
