In the centre of the DC Circuit Cluster Area, visitors see a large Van de Graaf generator. Regularly there is a demonstration about Electrostatic Electricity. Visitors will be encouraged to co-operate with a facilitator. The Generator produces enough Static Electricity to make a person's hair stand on end when he/she stands on an Insulator and touches the Generator.
Visitors can generate Static Electricity by rubbing two objects together, e.g. a plastic rod and wool. Then the plastic rod becomes charged. Visitors can verify the existence of the Electric Charges by contacting the rod to a Kolbe Electroscope, or using it to activate a lot of Styrofoam Pellets in a Plastic Case.
