How Giant Panda Stamps of Macao are Made
Stamp design is an art creation. Firstly, Macao Post will discuss with the stamp designer on the content of the stamp, way of expression and finishing of the stamp so as to create a hand-drawing or electronic artwork for the design. When the artwork is approved, some works for color separation will be prepared. Then the design for the inscription of stamps, page layout and emission chop will be carried out. After this, the artwork for the whole set of stamps is completed and it will be sent out for color separation.
The stamps of Macao are all printed by the printing houses from abroad or in mainland China because there is no qualified secure printing house in Macao. This issue of panda stamps is printed on adhesive stamp paper by offset lithography in Beijing PSPH. There is a set of color codes at the margin of the stamp sheet to mark the colors used for printing the issue. During the printing process, Macao Post will receive various proofs from the supplier for verifying the printing quality to ensure that it meets the requirement.
After the stamp printing is finished, the printing sheet will be produced. It will be cut into stamp sheets and then perforated. After the finished product is examined, Macao Post will use it to produce First Day Covers, Brochures, etc. This issue of stamps is designed by Mr. Au Man Hou. It includes a set of two stamps of different face values, each of size 30 x 40 mm, and a souvenir sheet of 138 x 90 mm.
