Seminars of International Museum Day, Macao 2012

ACTIVITIES OF INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY, MACAO 2012

The 35th anniversary of the International Museum Day is on May 18, 2012. To celebrate the World Telecommunications and Information Society Day and International Museum Day, visitors can enjoy free entrance at the Communications Museum from May 17 to 20 (Thursday to Sunday). In addition, the Museum will organize a series of activities during the whole month of May for the public.

Seminars of International Museum Day, Macao 2012

Communications Museums is organizing the "Seminars of International Museum Day 2012" in May. The objective is not only to allow local museum professionals to acquire new knowledge, broaden their vision in museum management and service provision, but also to provide a platform for the general public, especially teachers and students, to have a deeper understanding of museums' roles and, therefore, increase their influence in the community.

The first seminar, which is for Museum professionals, will be held on May 4. The organizer has invited Ms. SIU Lai Kuen, Chief Curator of Hong Kong Museum of History and Mr. SZETO Yuen Kit, Curator (Xubaizhai) of Hong Kong Museum of Art to deliver speeches on "Hong Kong Museum of History under new thoughts" and "Beyond exhibition - The curatorial concept of modern museum", respectively. The second seminar, which is for the general public, is co-organized by the Macao Polytechnic Institute and the Education & Youth Bureau. It will be held at the Auditorium of Macao Polytechnic Institute in the afternoon of May 5. Citizens, teachers and students are welcome to attend the seminar. The organizer has invited Professor LI Wen Ru, Ph.D., Deputy Director of the Palace Museum, Beijing to introduce the "Development trend of museums in China"; Professor SUN Wei Hsin, Ph.D., Director General of the National Museum of Natural Science, Taichung to discuss "Life is short, why don't we explore the interest of knowledge? - The role of museums in lifetime education for the general public"; and Associate Professor VAI Mang I, Ph.D. to talk about "A life of science popularization - How to develop interest in science?".

Macao International Museum Day Fair, 2012

Communications Museum is going to participate in the Macao International Museum Day Fair at the Tap Seac Square on May 6 (Sunday). During the event, visitors can play the interactive games "Flying to My Favorite Stamps" and "Electric Generator", as well as workshops "Stamp Bookmark" and "LED's Changing Looks ・Musical Flowers". Family participants are welcome to join these two workshops which are free of charge and will be held in rotation every 30 minutes. You can make your unique products and also win free coupons of the Museum.

International Museum Day Postcard

Macao Post will issue a commemorative postcard with circulation from May 4 to 18, and provide commemorative cancellation service for stamp collectors at the same period.

Communications Museum "Happy Family" Special Activities

Heart-warming Greeting Card

In order to celebrate the "World Telecommunications and Information Society Day", "International Museum Day", "Mother's Day", "Father's Day" and "Children's Day", Communications Museum is organizing a series of "Happy Family" activities during the months of May and June. From May 1 to June 30, there will be workshops held at specific times during the Museum's opening hours. All, and especially family visitors, are welcome!

Musical Flowers

At the Postal/Philately Gallery on the 1st floor, the "Heart-warming Greeting Card" workshop will be held at 11:00am and 3:30pm, free of charge. Each participant will first take a photo using the funny props provided at the Greenscreen Studio on the 2nd floor. Then, he/she will bring the photo back to the 1st floor to use the embossing machine making a greeting card for your loved ones! At the Telecommunications Gallery on the 2nd floor, the "LED's Changing Looks・Musical Flowers" workshop will be held at 11:30am and 4:00pm. A fee of MOP10.00 will be charged for the materials pack and the whole family can work together with the help of our Facilitators, to make a decorative flower with light and music!

Photography lovers are encouraged to bring their own cameras to take pictures at our "Funny Make a Pose" corner on the 1st floor. Feel free to play around with our big stamp frames of different shapes, props and background images when taking your photos! Furthermore, rubber stamps of different designs are available at the "Stamping Fun" desks at different areas inside the museum for visitors to have fun stamping our postcards. We hope you have a happy and fun time with your loved ones!
