Communications Museum of Macao, 2009 - Electronic Device Construction Competition

Regulation

Objective
Design and fabricate an "Electromagnetic Crane" (see Attachment).
Participants
Full-time secondary school students of Macao can participate individually or in a group with a maximum of 4 members. Each individual participant or each group can only submit one entry.
Judging Criteria
Each entry will be graded in accordance with the following criteria:
  • Scientific theory: Applicability of the technical knowledge, scientific methods and theories of the submitted work.
  • Capability and creativity: Presentation, outlook and creativity in the construction of any parts and economy and practicality of the material used.
  • Efficiency: Relevancy to the defined topic. On-site operation of the entry is required.
  • Presentation: Explanation of theory, design concept and live demonstration. Participants entering to the final competition are required to present design concepts and to conduct live demonstration of their submitted entries within a fixed amount of time.
Prizes
  • First prize: Trophy, winning certificate, MOP 2,000.00 gift vouchers and souvenir
  • Second prize: Trophy, winning certificate, MOP 1,500.00 gift vouchers and souvenir
  • Third prize: Trophy, winning certificate, MOP 1,200.00 gift vouchers and souvenir
  • Merit Prizes: Winning certificate, MOP 500.00 gift vouchers and souvenir for each work
Exhibition
All entries will be exhibited in the Communications Museum. The Organizer reserves the rights to film, to publish, translate, display and promote the entries without prior permission of the participants and remuneration.

Submission of Entries
Each entry should be submitted to Communications Museum, Estrada de D. Maria II, no.7, Macao SAR, from 6 January to 8 February 2009 (before 12:00 a.m.), during normal opening hours of the Museum.

Remarks
Any issues not covered in the Regulations and clarification of doubts will be the exclusive competence of the Organizer.
