MACAO INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY CARNIVAL, 2016

As a celebration of the "World Telecommunications and Information Society Day", "International Museum Day" and "International Children's Day", visitors will enjoy free entrance at the Communications Museum from May 17 to 18 (Tuesday & Wednesday). Commemorative cancellation service for stamp collectors will also be available.

In response to the theme of the International Museum Day - "The Mobile Museum - The Blending of Chinese and Western Cultures in Macao" in 2016, the Maritime Museum, Macao Museum and Communications Museum cooperate to organize the photography contest of the theme "The Mobile Museum - The Blending of Chinese and Western Cultures in Macao". Online voting for the favourite photos from the participating works of the photography contest is in progress. All participants can elect only one photo in each category - Primary Student, Secondary Student and General, at www.museums.gov.mo before 22:00:00 on May 2. The photo that receives the highest number of votes in each category will win the "Best Popularity Award". The authors of the three winning photos will each be awarded book vouchers valued at MOP500. All voting participants will automatically enter the Grand Lucky Draw. The three winners drawn will each obtain book vouchers valued at MOP200.00.

The International Museum Day Carnival will be held at the St. Lazarus Parish on May 8. There will be a "Festive Stamps" exhibition at the entrance of the Old Ladies' House of the Holy House of Mercy from May 8 to 18. It will showcase stamps of different festivals issued by different countries and territories. Visitors can view the important festivals during the year and recall the happy moments with their families and friends. From the images on the stamps, we can see that under the mutual influence of Eastern and Western cultures, different nations may celebrate the same festivals but in different ways, showing their unique local customs and practices. Please come to visit and join our workshop with your family on May 8. Please don't forget your camera!
