Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Special Activity

In order to celebrate the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Communications Museum will launch a series of special activities from 8 August 2008 to 10 January 2009. Besides having the Olympic Games stamp exhibition, we have also the Olympic torch displayed for visitors to take photos. In addition, we will live broadcast the Olympic Games in our museum. For the coming new school year starting in September, a series of educational and interesting guided visits, seminars and workshops with themes related to Olympic Games are especially designed for school visits.

Program of Special Activity:

1. Olympic and I

We add three Olympic Games background pictures for the most popular interactive exhibit - Personal Picture Postcard. All visitors are welcome to take a personalized Olympic picture postcard and take it home as well as new backgrounds will be changed for the Greenscreen Studio, too. We have also prepared "Cutie Torch Bearer" and "Cutie Torch" for young visitors trying to be the torchbearer.

2. Amazing Stamps of the Olympics

After enjoying the stamp exhibition of Olympic Games, visitor can cut and fold the leaflet introducing the Olympics to make a unique "Stamp Cube", we believe all of you will find pleasure in it.

The Large Stamp Projection will display stamps about Olympic Games all around the world in different times. Children can participate this month's stamp design competition "Beijing 2008 Olympic Games" to win philatelic products. We have also prepared thematic seminar "The Olympics and Stamps" with the relevant worksheets for school booking visits.

3. Special Workshops for School Bookings

3.1 Olympic Geography

This workshop includes "Learning Olympic Games"and"Message of the Olympics".

"Learning Olympic Games"- Introduce the Olympic history, the five rings, emblem, mascots, pictograms and competition sports through the stamps of Olympic Games; and let students recognize the countries or regions that had held Olympic Games by using the stamps and the world map. Teachers can choose "Stamp Puzzles", "Stamp Identification and Classification", "Matching Olympic Pictograms", "Identify the Olympic Mascots" or "The Olympic Quiz" for the students according to their learning levels.

"Message of the Olympics" - Explain the meanings of the Olympic flame and the torch relay through the development of the communication means. Let students recognize the scenic spots of torch relay in Macao and learn the countries or regions by using world map to show the torch relay on its International Leg.

3.2 Olympic@Communication

This workshop includes "Stamps of Olympic Games", "Olympic Games and Pictograms", "Introduction of Olympic Games" and "The Olympics and Postal Services".

"Stamps of Olympic Games" - Use the stamps specially issued for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games to tell the story "Fuwa and Olympic Games". Introduce the elements of a stamp by demonstration of "Make a Fuwa Stamp".

"Olympic Games and Pictograms" & "Introduction of Olympic Games" - Introduce the history of communications by using the Olympic Pictograms and the Olympic Flag, explain the role of symbols in the process of communication. Students can make an Olympic flag and colour the five rings properly, design an Olympic flag or use the fluffs wicker to make a pictogram according to the Olympic pins displayed.

"The Olympics and Postal Services" - Introduce the work of the postman and the postal services by telling story of Marathon Man and the Olympic torch relay. Students do not only participate in colouring, but they also can make an Olympic medal bookmark as souvenir.
