The course is an extension of "symmetry and transformation" to let students promoting to secondary school better understand the abstract concepts and calculation techniques of "shapes and space", and know about different geometric shapes and the basic concept of "angles".

Content:

  • Basic concept of symmetric figures and discovery of two-dimensional shapes in our daily life
  • Observation of symmetric objects in nature. Introduction of "Reflection Symmetry" and "Rotational Symmetry".
  • Applications of geometric shapes and tessellations in our daily life
  • Understanding of tessellations through appreciation of works by the artist M. C. Escher. Design of a personal tessellation.
