Booking Service Guide for Visits

The 5th publication of the "Booking Service Guide for Visits" is issued for the 2014-2015 scholastic year. Apart from the "General Guided Visit", there are twenty-five thematic guided visits and three workshops under the areas of "History of Macao Post", "Foundations of Communication", "Postal Service", "Stamps and Collection" and "General Mathematics". For Telecommunications, there are six thematic guided visits under the areas of "Electromagnetism", "Transmission and Broadcasting" and "Telegraph and Telephone", seven science demonstrations, twenty-two science workshops and eleven electronic circuit courses.

The new thematic guided visits, workshops and electronic courses are full of fun. The "Mathematics on Stamps" of the Postal/Philately area is especially designed for students from Primary 1 to 6. They will learn how to calculate postage through the mail posting activities so that they will improve their analytical and reasoning ability, and strengthen their knowledge in Mathematics. The "All About Stamps Colours" which is suitable for students from Primary 5 to Form 3 is about changes that will happen on stamps and their conservation method. It introduces the oxidation, brittleness and possible chemical reactions of stamps due to humidity and light exposure, quality and colour change problems, etc. Besides, there is also a hands-on workshop "Funny Picture Frame DIY" suitable for students of Primary 4 or above. Participants will use colourful cardboards, molds and embossing machine to make different shapes and patterns. They will use these materials to create their unique picture frames.

The Telecommunications area has a new "Fun Group Game" suitable for students of Primary 3 or above. Participants will learn about the importance of communication with teammates, certain communication method and tools, and play group games or complete some tasks in groups. The "Production of Teaching Aids - Electromagnetism" is suitable for students of Form 4 or above. Students will be divided into groups of two persons to make an electromagnetic braking system. They will learn about the theories, discuss on the product size, select the right materials, do the testing and fine-tuning, and share their experience with others.

Communications Museum will continue to put more efforts in promoting student competitions and other activities. We shall organize more tailor-made, one-off or long-term "Stamp Collection Club" and "Telecom Club" activities according to the requests from schools. We welcome students to visit the Museum or we are glad to provide on-site service at the schools, including the schools' special commemorative activities and open day; "Museum at My School", "Stamp College" and "Science College" in which we provide game booths, workshops, science demonstrations; "Science Café" where schools can choose the activity content and "Exhibition at School" where we bring our mobile exhibits to be displayed in the school campus.

For our Mini Theatre, we have two new films that introduce the production process of stamps. They are the "130th Anniversary of Macao Post: Printing Process for Silver Hot Foil Stamping Souvenir Sheet" and "130th Anniversary of Macao Post: Printing Process for Silk Souvenir Sheet with Certificate". For the "Design Your Own Stamp", we have updated images and added a perforation machine for making oval-shaped perforation. Please feel free to come and experience them!
