"Explore Singapore! Colours of Heritage" Special Exhibition

The "Explore Singapore! Colours of Heritage" exhibition organized by the Singapore Philatelic Museum is funded by Singapore's "Renaissance City Plan". The exhibition is co-organized with the Communications Museum of Macao Post, after touring in the Philippines and Vietnam.

The exhibition aims to bring the rich culture and heritage of Singapore to life. Visitors will get to explore Singapore via interactive displays, philatelic collections, and photographs. We hope this exhibition will enhance cultural exchange between Singapore and the Macao Special Administrative Region, and the friendship and cooperation between the two museums.

The "Explore Singapore! Colours of Heritage" exhibition will be held at the Temporary Exhibition Gallery on the Ground Floor of the Communications Museum between 1st March and 31st August. The exhibition includes "Singapore - Now and Then" which introduces how "Singapore" got its name, her foundation and relationship with Macao; "People of Singapore" which is about the multicultural society formed by Chinese, Malays, Indians, Peranakans and Eurasians; "Vanishing Trades" such as traditional shophouses, wooden clog shops, street barbers, Indian spice grinding shops, street hawkers and performers; the mouth-watering "Singapore Heritage Food" and "Kaleidoscope of Festivals".

For the 6-month exhibition, Communications Museum has designed a series of programs and activities for visitors from different backgrounds and of different age groups so that they can experience Singapore culture in different ways.

Programs for the public do not require bookings and they are most suitable for families and groups of friends. During the visit, feel free to play the "Funny Stamp Chess" at the lobby. Visitors are welcomed to bring their cameras for the "Make a Pose - Singapore and Me". Then they can go to appreciate the Singapore stamps shown on the "Large Stamp Projector" in the gallery on the 1st floor. They can also take a "Personal Picture Postcard" with special background image and send it home. They are welcomed to join the free daily workshops held at 11:00am and 3:30pm on the 1st floor gallery to make "Fragrant Stamps" with the provided spices and embossing machine. Lastly, don't forget to collect all the stamps from the "Stamping Fun" desks located at different corners of the museum, and complete the "Treasure Passport" and redeem for a souvenir at the Museum Shop.

The Museum also provides guided tour booking service for schools, organizations and elderly groups.
